I think it’s nearly impossible to write a story on fashion in San Francisco without mentioning denim, considering it was the place that denim blue jeans were invented. There is nothing better than a pair of vintage Levi 501s, as they are some of the most flattering and iconic jeans out there. They are also perfect for fall because of their thickness and the cut allows them to be worn with any top, weather it be a chunky knit or a t-shirt. Slash Denim on College Avenue is the place if you are on the hunt for the perfect vintage pair of 501s. They have been around for over 35 years and specialize in vintage Levis. The tiny store is filled literally to the ceiling with Levis and the staff will help you find your perfect pair, since the sizing of vintage Levis can be quite bizarre by our modern standards.
Wrap tops are also very in at the moment, and while they are a trendy piece they work perfectly with the mild weather we have in this city. The local e-commerce retailer, Lisa Says Gah has launched some of their own designs for the fall/winter season, one of which is a gorgeous bright red wrap top. The top is handmade in San Francisco with fabric that was made in LA. Even though Lisa Says Gah is an online store, you can make an appointment to go into their studio in the Castro to try pieces on IRL.
A fall wardrobe would not be complete without a perfect pair of boots. Some of my favorites come from the brand Sol Sana, in particular the Fox Boot II in burgundy velvet. These boots are the perfect height for walking around the city, and the velvet is not only on trend for the season, but is durable enough to withstand the rain come winter. These beauties can be found at Anomie on Union Street in San Francisco, where the shop owner, Chelsea (who is also a native Bay Area resident) curates her favorite pieces from indie jewelry designers, clothing designers, and beauty brands.
